Salmon; a variant spelling from Gaelic and the surname Ó Bradáin. Folklore tells of Finn MacCool, a well-known Irish hero who burned his thumb while cooking the Salmon of Knowledge. He put the burned thumb in his mouth and acquired the fish''s gift of prophecy and wisdom.
